Hi reddit!
I'm a human centered design and engineering student in Seattle. I am working on a project on navigational aids for the blind, and would love to talk to some of you to learn more about your experiences, specifically while grocery shopping. I have a few questions below, and if anyone is willing to talk more via PM that would be really awesome.
1) How do you shop for groceries?
2) What are some of the main challenges you face while grocery shopping?
3) Do you use any type of navigational aid (cane, seeing eye dog, cell phone GPS, etc.)?
4) Do you use a phone/computer screen reader? If so, what kind and how does it work?
5) Do you shop online? Could you describe how you typically do that?
6) What are some of the challenges you face using your smartphone?
Lastly... if someone is willing to meet a random stranger off the internet, I would really like to shadow you while you grocery shop. I've found talking to people firsthand is really invaluable for research.
Thanks so much for your time! :)
