[NSFW?] Questions about erotica for the visually impaired. (self.Blind)
submitted by Mesmer7
I would like to write an article about erotica for the visually impaired for my web site, $1 (NSFW). I produce audio erotic files, and I need some help reaching visually impaired potential listeners.

I've read that 22% of visually impaired people would be interested in viewing sexually explicit videos with closed captioning. And that is literally all the information I've been able to find on the topic. I can't find any information about visually impaired people's interest in audio erotica. Nor can I find any information about the types of keyword searches that these people might use.

Can someone help me out? Point me to some useful information or tell me about your interest/experience?

I'd appreciate the help.

Right, so a few random thoughts:

Closed captioning typically refers to the text at the bottom of the screen when characters talk in tv/movies, which is typically not helpful for people unable to read said text. The term you are looking for is audio description or descriptive audio, which is a narrator who describes the visual details on screen. For descriptive audio for porn, go check out porn hub, they have a category of examples. Whether or not descriptive porn is good is up to the individual listener.

I know of blind people who like all the formats of porn, including video, literature, and audio. Video-based and audio-based porn are pretty similar if the person watching has no vision at all. If they have some vision, the gratification from video porn is pretty much the same as a sighted person. For audio-based porn, there’s pretty much no difference between blind and sighted people, since they perceive it in the same ways. The only type of porn that is completely inaccessible for completely blind people is picture-based porn, since it is inherently visual with no audio.

As for the type of porn that blind people appreciate, that’s like asking the question what type of porn do sighted people like. The preferences are going to vary based on the individual, and will be just as diverse as any group of people.

Sorry for mixing up the terms, CC with AD. I do know the difference.

Thanks for the PH info.

Gone Wild Audio and GW Stories work. Pornhub started doing audio described porn, but it is absolutely terrible and not a good example to follow. Sites like Literotica and XNXX have great story selections that can be listened to with screen readers or braille displays. Audio content is great either when produced well or shared via audio recording when playing with someone over the phone. Attention to ASMR and details are really appreciated as well.

I've never found an ASMR recording that actually worked.

FWIW: https://www.nifty.org/nifty/ (LGBT) and https://www.asstr.org/ (all) have very extensive collections of text-based erotica.

I would imagine that using one (with author's permission) and reading it, audio book style, might be worth trying.

I want to thank all of you for responding to my inquiry. Unfortunately, I still don't have enough information to write an substantive article.

What you’ve posted is a bit nebulous, so that’s why you’re getting more general answers. If you have some specific questions to drive the conversation, you may get more information for your article.

CC is for deaph, DA is for the blind. Descriptive audio.

As for what I enjoy, I use Voice Over to read stories on stories.xnxx.com or literotica.

If there were a genre of audio porn, I don’t know it’s common name. May I propose CumCast or OTunes?

I'm honestly not that into Audio erotica but blind/VI people are like sighted people in that we like different things depending on the person you ask. For example, I love the sound of a womans heartbeat but others may not be into that. I like bigger women but others may not be into that. It's a personal preference. as for keywords I'd assume it was the same for a sighted person as it would be for a blind/VI person.

As for your recordings, I checked out the Enthralling Rhythms one and honestly was a little distracted by the popping Ps' and hissing in the background. I'd Personally not pay $35 for a recording like that.

If I go to the FEMDOM HYPNOSIS page, I notice there's an edit box, (a box you can type in,) that doesn't have the propper HTML to allow a screen reader user to know what it is. All I hear when pressing e to get to the box is edit. Instead of something like, first name edit. A great site to help you would be https://webaim.org/techniques/forms/

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm not sure if I can customize the plug-in I use for that function. But I'll try to explore it.

For anyone wondering who may not know.. there are still phonsex phonelines out there just like back in the day when you'd hear those corny commercials on late night TV. The difference is that these girls are NOTHING like those commercials, they are just regular women with an interest in doing adult phonework.
Mesmer7 [OP] 1 points 5y ago
The phone sex lines were always 'regular girls' or 'voice actors'. Those late night TV ads were always misleading.
