So I'm making a web comic, and one of the things I want to do is have it accessible to blind people using something like alt-text.
But a big element of my story is color. I don't know how to explain this to anyone who may have never seen color, but I'd like to know how well blind people are aware of color associations. Meaning, even if you've never seen red, would you recognize that red is the color of blood, and that red symbolizes danger?
My comic doesn't really have much color to it. It's gray scale and washed out, with red added to draw attention to things, show that they are important, and link them to the element of danger that is present in the story. Here's the transcript of the first page, which is only a single image and a little text, as an example:
A wolf sits. It stares. Behind it is a dark forest; large and foreboding. Before it is a path. The wolf's eyes shine red. It is waiting. "A demon came to town last night."
And that's it, that's the transcript. Does that read alright? Do you have any advice for making things like that read well for blind audiences? I imagine that instead just writing what is seen on the page, it would be best if the story would be able to be read as prose, so I'm trying to lean towards that.

The majority of blind people have had vision or still have some vision, and even those born totally blind typically know that certain colors represent certain things.
I like the idea of doing it as prose, but I'm a reader/writer. Others might prefer a shorter description.

Thank you so much :) It really helps me out to know things like that for sure. I hope it wasn't too ignorant of a question. Thank you for your help!

Usually, but the context already hints danger. So, that may be enough. If you have images alt tag them and you’ll be fine.
