Hi,

About a week back I posted about how we were inspired by a post here to build a Meme Recogniser. You shared some thoughts and feedback based on which I was able to build a very basic version of it which is currently capable of recognising 20 odd memes and reading the text on it.

I have just uploaded the beta for approval and as soon as that is done, I can start inviting beta testers to install it on their phones. We can then collaboratively work based on your feedback and frequent iterations to make this work meaningfully. If you would like to be a beta tester, please send me your Apple ID through this form: https://goo.gl/forms/7hMgW5SRoTEo5Cgx1

If you would like to be updated on the progress and launch of this project, please subscribe here: https://www.producthunt.com/upcoming/meme-recogniser

P.S. Sorry, but as of now I am only building this for iOS, but if this works out an eventual Android version shouldn't be too far out.

Subscribed! Unfortunately, I don't do a lot of surfing on IOS. Would it be possible to make this a chrome extension? That way I could select an image on a webpage (from email, a slack chat, hangouts, reddit, whatever), and have it identified.

Thanks! Yes, there are ways of porting the underlying models to work as a browser extension. Once we open this up I am sure that should be buildable.
