Tips on reporting accessibility issues to companies (self.Blind)
submitted by Karlb21
Hello all,

As my first Reddit post I wanted to share with you all an article I recently wrote. It appears in the November edition of the National Federation of the Blind's Braille Monitor magazine. The article discusses tips on how to effectively report accessibility issues to web and app developers. To summarize, gather information like what operating system, access technology, browser, etc. that you are using and is relevant. Next, describe what you are trying to do and what issue you are facing in as much detail as possible. The article goes on to offer tips on finding contacts at companies, posting issues on social media, and more. You can check it out at $1. I hope you enjoy the article and maybe report a few issues yourself. Many companies aren't actually trying to deny us access, they are usually unaware of web accessibility and the impact it has. Reports from customers and potential customers are always the best first step for attempting to get companies to chantge.

Good article; thanks for sharing! While it doesn't contain any information I didn't already know, I'm saving a copy just because having it laid out in a checklist format like this is useful. Also, having a process to follow, even if it's your own process, can really help to remove those angry and frustrated emotions from your communications, that will only turn the other party off.

Thank you for sharing this! My son is legally blind (I'm sighted) but my husband works in technology and I know he will find this very interesting and helpful!
