As an aide to blind students, i have a tech question (self.Blind)
submitted by Carnith
So I work with blind and visually impaired students, and help teach technology and math. Our blind students who are mainstream use Humanware Braillenote Touchs for classwork and everything. One thing I was trying to teach them to do on devices and regular computers was to create power point's as many of these students are college bound. The school we work at uses google classroom a lot, and so we tried to teach them Google Slides, which they did fine with, but the problem was students were unable to delete slides. They had to give me access to their projects and I had to go in and delete them. Anyone have any ideas that I could teach them to be more independent in this regard?

To delete a slide, do the following:

* Move focus to the film strip (ctrl+alt+shift+F)
* Use up/down arrows to focus on the slide you want to delete
* Press the del key (or bring up the context menu and select “Delete”)

A good resource is https://support.google.com/docs/answer/1634140?hl=en

Can this be done on the Braille note? This is what the students are most comfortable with as the tech class was only half a semester which they spent a large amount of time learning to type on the keyboard.

Ah, sorry, I have no experience with that device, so I don't know the equivalent. Maybe give tech support a call?

might have to and see if a different tech can help, the problem is is that it's not a program they made for the device, it's a google product.

I mean we were in the process of doing it. It was a general tech class. So students spent two to three days learning the keyboard as they had no prior use before i worked with them as far as I know. The problem is that they are general Ed students so I only see them for one period and I need to teach them other skills they can use for class, such as being able to participate in classroom activities.

Well they are doing this on their Braille note touches, it uses android as an operating system and it's an app. We never got to using a computer for creating power points as they students were not overly familiar with a keyboard.
