What do you think about the name DeSighting / Decighting (mix of deciding and sight) for a blog? (self.Blind)
submitted by mamiice97
Hello everyone! I came up with an idea for a project, which includes a youtube channel, a blog and maybe a radio that will stream sometimes (life events). It'll be about tutorials covering lots of different topics (cooking, beauty/makeup, tech, singing/instruments, etc) made by a blind person for everyone, funny stuff like life accessibility/recepie/DIY tests or life reactions, , product testings, story times and more. We came up with the name DeCighting /DeSighting. This word is a mix of deciding in the sense of significant, meaning that every individual counts, everyone can change the world with the things they do and the decisions they make, disabled or not, and that together we can make the world a little better) and the word sight. I also realized that the prefix de- in de-sight says something like no, or not existent, so it also means no sight/vision. The word has two meanings then and I found it quite original. :D

How do you like this name? I'd be glad to get your opinions and ideas about it and the whole project in general. Would you want to contribute to this project? Feel free and vote for or against it. That would help a lot.

I'd also like to say that we won't do this to have a lot of clicks or success, but because we love video editing, making videos and blog posts in general, and sharing all we know with other people who might need it.

Hoping to get votes or even a few answers.

Have a nice day!

Edit: Just explained the name a bit better, hopefully :)

Following the pattern of detach, decapitate, etc "desight" works perfectly well as a potential word meaning to remove or disable someone or something's sight. That's my first thought when I read it anyway. I'm not sure if that was your intention but its quite good.

Honestly I think what you plan on covering will be great! I'd definitely watch it, and I bet there are tons of others out there who would like to have some insight into how the world works on so many levels for a person who is blind or visually impaired.

The name....eh. It's a little confusing, but maybe I just didn't understand your explanation well. I think it's an awesome idea overall though!

Yep, the explanation was not perfect. I'll try again and will edit that in my post, too. :)

The name is a mix of deciding in the sense of significant (meaning that everyone is important for the community, blind or sighted, or with other disabilities, and that everyone can contribute to make the world better, to take decisions that make this world a better place) and sight, in the sense of vision. The prefix de- before the word sight, would mean no then, so de-sight=no sight. It's hard to explain, but that's more a side note. I realized that after coming up with the name and found it quite original. :D

I'm glad that you like the idea though!
