Working as a Transcriptionists (self.Blind)
submitted by blind_cowboy
I am looking at doing some transcribing. Does anyone have any advice on how to keep your screen reader from interfering with with the audio you’re listening to while typing?

Also if anyone has any other tips or tricks I am receptive. Thanks in advance for the help.

If you're using JAWS, I know you can temporarily turn off speech with insert + space, then s.

I’m on a Mac using voiceover. Sorry I should have specified that.

I know I can go into verbosity and change the settings not to read what I type I just wondered if there was a better option I hadn’t considered.

Mute voiceover on the Mac with a quick three finger triple tap and then do it again to unmute it.

If using a Macbook, the Trackpad commander needs to be on for this to work.

I thought about it but depending on the circumstances I could see it causing a problem. If somehow I left the document and didn’t realize it I could lose a lot of work. I would be better off turning typing echo to silent.

Also I think that should be a 3 finger double tap. A 3 finger triple tap turns on screen curtain.
