Does personality effect how one deals or copes with blindness? (self.Blind)
submitted by ENTJ351
Use what personality system you want big five or mbti or whatever. Does this help or hinder people and their coping with blindness?

For example does the openness on big five cause you to be more opened to differently problem solving and being more open to different adaptations or being blind even?

For example mbti. Having te in your top to keep you more as the person in control. Your chief goal is to maintain control so you try to be more independent. Te can also be independence too though. So having more of a drive to be that way you become a more successful person by having some sort of traits.

Now talking about neither big five or mbti. But for instance you have a type a+ personality workaholic achiever type of thing do you think this effects independence?

Also say having si in the mbti system. Makes you a more experiential person and thus more pragmatic at figuring out how to go about life.

Or fe if you’re more about group values and values and feelings of others, naturally you’re a little more co-dependent and so may not be as keen on being independent.

How about something like a on the big five? For instance it is said lower agreeableness score = more success but less friendly. So lower a means more prone to independence? Maybe not the most friendly way at going about it but they understand how.

I'm extremely high openness and extremely low neuroticism, apparently. It feels like a good combination for dealing with blindness.

Yeah, I am the same way. I think having a more openness to different options and ideas is hhelpful and the n keeps you calm and not anxious. I have a lower agreeableness which makes it easier to get stuff done. But a higher consciousness for me at least has given me sort of the moral indicators of how to work with others.

I am not saying any of these are better or worse but this is my experience.

Mine was weird, I was highly industrious but low in orderliness. Guess that explains why I'm always losing everything. I was also 1% politeness, ha. Though I'm actually polite in my day to day.

Ah I see don’t know if I taken that one. I have done the sstandard ocean one and then others. Been really in to mbti on here, on reddit.

it’s true I am a te user and a lot of people would describe me as harder than a nail, in control confident and determined and such.

And can be very innovative and creative with my ideas and tend to see things as ideas which helps me figure out stuff in terms of life kind of well. Definitely really not that sensitive so I make it through pretty well..

It would only make since that it does. I think personality affects how everyone deals with situations in life. For example some people would never accept getting abused by a spouse while others might stay with that person for life. You could say the same thing about how a blind person, a person in a wheel chair, or even that person who isn’t as book smart but puts in the extra effort.

Yeah, that’s true I agree with you which is why I brought it up it’s an interesting topic how each person and their personality kind of deals with it.
