Taping body measurements without assistance?(self.Blind)
submitted by LeftAl
Is there an accessible way of taking my body measurements without asking for help? I have some usable vision still left.

This may or may not help, but try taking some thread or string, wrap it around what you want to measure, and cut it to the correct length. Then straighten out the string and measure it; this means you can have the measuring device (ruler or tape) in a comfortable reading position, or take a picture of it.

I'd say stop by your nearest tailor. They can have you measured in about five minutes.

I’m from the UK and live in London.
I have a talking tape Measure I’d be willing to sell for £30. It’s from the RNIB. Message me if you’re interested.

They have talking measuring tapes if you cannot read braille

Yes there are wonderful accessible options. There is braille measuring tapes I currently still own one it’s in my collection of accessible stuff not used. Those are really super helpful. There is all sorts of talking scales. If you look on maxiaids you’ll find no shortage. Maybe you should look on there for measuring tapes as well.

I'm thinking somebody should make a talking tape measure, but I do not know who.

Braille measuring tape + string/yarn or cord. Pinch or cut the cord and then stretch it out on the measuring tape. Should work!

I thought they made measuring tapes with Braille on them. Do they not do that anymore?
