Hello /r/Blind! I work as a store manager at a non-profit store for the Blind and Visually Impaired. My Director is Visually Impaired and asked me to do some research on a talking caller ID. We already have the phones setup, so I was curious if there was a caller ID box out there that was worth checking out.
I found an Emerson Caller ID but it was rated very poorly, with a soft speaker.

Thanks for your help!

They're costly in the UK. Truecall is a brand some people like. For home use with the right setup, an Amazon Echo Connect is cheap. A SIP softphone app on a regular smartphone can also work.

Oo! I am fascinated by this echo connect thing. I'm assuming this announces the caller, just o it does when someone calls using the Alexa app? Do you know if it tries to come up with a name if there's no contact, or does it just give you a phone number? That's actually really useful information.
