I'd recommend that you join if you can. Those of us who are there right now are actually having a good time.
Besides the u/hariztek needs some company in the voice chat.
I'd like to chat more with him, but he stays up until 4am, and I have school at 8.30.

Discord isn't bad, but there are more accessible chat platforms out there.

The good thing about discord is that it also offers voice channels. So if we could find such an alternative, that would be nice.

Google Hangouts could be a good alternative. You can make group chats and it has the option to do audio calls, too. The channel thing isn't present, but someone could make separate group-chats for different topics, so each chat could function like a channel within a Discord server.

That is not such a bad idea but hangouts isn't really used if you want to start a community. Also Google announced they will shut it down soon.
