Help with my father (self.Blind)
submitted by thatEMSguy
My dad is legally blind and I’m looking for fun stuff to do with him on his birthday. He was a truck driver before he lost his sight and I tried to find a place that would let him drive a go kart but they all said no. He likes being outside. Any suggestions?

Could you drive the GoKart while he rides with you?

If his eyesight is good enough to consider karting, you might like to look into American Truck Simulator, Euro Truck Simulator or simracing games.

I might be way off base, but I can't drive, but I do like to throw a car around a track on the computer. You can get a used wheel and pedals set for $50 or a new one for $150.

Have a look at the activities travel eyes offer on their holidays for ideas. I did a holiday in nice with them and we did a food tour and a perfume making workshop

Edit: travel eyes is a company that does group holidays for sighted and visually impaired people

How about making arrangements for him to ride along in a race car? Or, arrange a fishing trip or other outdoor activity.

Fishing may be an option. I drive him around all the time idk if he’d like being a passenger. I’m have a friend with some property that’s fairly empty, he may let him drive an old pick up in a huge empty field

How bad is his eyesight? Cuz I'm legally blind and can't drive, but I can still drive a go kart. Like the track is smaller and the same all along, so it's easy enough!
