The Video Game Narratory Project has released their sampler, please give it a listen. (self.Blind)
submitted by Eldarose
Hi again.

We're back and we're ready to debut our project. We've covered the first 30 mins of Gone Home and are busy at work covering the rest of the game. We've also made a $1 group which you can follow for updates and releases at $1

Links to the sampler, twitter and patreon below: (itunes coming very soon, we're just waiting on approval)

Youtube: $1
Spotify: $1
RSS Feed: $1

Twitter: $1

Patreon: $1

And we still have our open google form where you can submit feedback at: $1

We're aiming to launch fully with the complete playthrough of Gone Home and 2 hours of Dark Souls later in March. We hope that what we've shared today will satisfy and excite you for what this project can make next as we grow in confidence and experience. Thanks for listening. Much love. Brooke.

(Finally a small clarification. There was some confusion in the comments of our first post over the video released by Sightless Kombat of the Transcribing Games project. You can find their video covering the opening sequence of God of War (2018) here $1. While we fully endorse the work Sightless Kombat does at Transcribing Games, we are not associated and the content we're making will be significantly different. With that said please give their sample video a watch too, we wish them the best of luck as they do important work in making games more accessible, a goal that we share.)

Are they all going to be similar point and click style games, or do you guys plan on doing RPGs and FPS?

When we launch later in March we'll be posting the full Gone Home playthrough and 2 hours of Dark Souls. We'll then be trying to raise money via kickstarter so that we can finish Dark Souls, Halo, Zelda: Link to the Past, Portal, Firewatch and Bioshock

If we were to take on a traditional RPG I'd love to do Mass Effect or possibly something in Skyrim but that would be way down the line as RPG's are kind of the most ambitious kind of game to cover this way. But if we can secure funding then we'll make what people want.

This is a really good and promising start! You are missing the explanation for the style of the game, however. That should be explained right at the start; is it first person? Platformer? Third person? Played on what system? The same level of detail that went into the contextual prompt explanation would work perfectly for this and really help get us more into the mindspace for visualizing the game while listening to the soundscape. Also, what type of game is this? Horror? Action? Just a little more context, otherwise great pacing with the overall description.

That's something we never considered. There isn't really anyone else doing this kind of playthrough, at least not to the standard we're aiming for so we're having to think of solutions to problems at the same time we're trying to figure out what the problems even are haha, so yeah we're definitely not expecting to get everything right on our first flight. We'll definitely include these details moving forward, this is brilliant feedback thank you so much.

So glad to see this! Thanks for mentioning the Transcribing Games project as well, we're so glad we happened to launch these projects around the same time. :) Though we don't have direct overlap, it's so nice to see more people volunteering their time to share the love for their favorite games.

If I might ask: is there a reason you haven't included video capture with the audio track? It might add to the experience for those who have low vision.

I think, if they did video, then the podcasts would be like a million times harder to produce.

This is just me, but I want a podcast for this kind of thing. I liked audio based podcasts, even back when I could see. I don't want video a lot of the time.

But I think transcribing games can fill the low vision market.

Ah, that does make sense if it's primarily intended for that medium. Thanks!

Yes. We had originally intended to just throw the video capture up on the screen with minimal to no editing, but we quickly realised that the editing that we wanted to do to game audio turned the video into a chopped up nightmare, the less we show the more we can tweak the audio and the better we can make the audio sound and as that was our top priority from the beginning we quickly ditched the video haha
