WTB Bump Dots (self.Blind)
submitted by bscross32
I'm looking for some bump dots. They're needing to be clear and small, I'm going to be putting them on a microwave I just got. I never needed to have them before, as I could read the thing, but my vision is a bit worse now, and even with the old one, I wasn't able to read it but I knew the thing to the point where it didn't matter as much. I've never really had blindness products in my house, because my vision was always enough that I could get by. Basically, I need a good deal on these things, and generally, where do you guys get your accessibility stuff from. I'm a little nervous about smaller companies, and would prefer that anyone who responds has actually dealt with the place they recommend and it's gone well for them.

Thanks for any help.

A lot of stores that sell things for blind people will have a variety of them, such as NFB's independence market, LS&S products, and Maxi-Aids.

You can also get clear bump dot "cabinet bumpers" from Amazon. You can get a big pack of around 300 with a variety of sizes to try for about $10. If you haven't shopped at Amazon before, https://www.afb.org/blindness-and-low-vision/using-technology/online-shopping-and-banking-accessibility-people-visual-1 might be of help.

Maxi Aids is good, they're a good company and they ship quickly (I've only ordered canes from them before, though). I bought my bump dots at the Carroll Store since it's local to me, but they do have an online store. Here is the link to the small clear bump dots on their website: $1

Yeah I looked on Amazon today and they seemed a bit pricy, I kinda wanted to see if I could find a better deal, but if not, I'll get the ones off Amazon.

RNIB/CNIB/Braille Superstore will have these.

Amazon has also just put out a voice-activated microwave. Highly recommended!

I have one of these, it's not as powerful as a regular microwave. Doesn't heat up food evenly and also takes forever to defrost meat.
