What happens when a Blind Person uses Psychedelic drugs like LSD or DMT?(self.Blind)
submitted by 1VentiChloroform
We, over at r/drugs were considering this.
I'm not sure how to expound on this question further, other than share my own psychedelic experiences which I feel may not pertain to blind people as a tremendous amount of the feelings I have on these substances are based in visuals even when I shut my eyes, because my brain projects more visual images through my head.
So, without further ado, has any of the blind people here experienced any of these drugs? What was it like?

My dad is baked sitting beside me. I asked him this question and he said "it must make sound taste funny"
And then he started laughing.
Ok then

understandable.
I once laughed at the sound of my own hand opening and closing.

I used to do LSD with a guy who was blind since birth. Obviously just auditory hallucinations and and music for him, but the general "Out of Body" feeling occurs with blind people too. i know a girl who went completely blind as a teenager and became addicted to those drugs because it was the only way to bring back optical impressions for her

Not chemically addictive.

DMT was great. Everything sort of melts; the sun on my skin was more of a particle than a wave - it seemed more solid than usual, like it was holding me. Similar to mushrooms, everything seemed inconsequentially hilarious and/or extraordinarily beautiful. My friend hugged me and we became one mass; we thought we had 4 legs and 2 heads, etc.

That's awesome, I recently tried DMT and it brought me to the question this thread's about. I wear a blindfold and ear plugs when I smoke it, the entire trip and "visuals" are "seen" with closed eyes, so I've always wondered what blind people imagine under the same influence. For me I visualize all kinds of crazy stuff not "earthly" at all, fractals and impossible shapes, if you do enough it's kinda like being abducted by aliens for 10 mins, with alien beings interacting with you.

it really differs from person to person. you have to remember that a great deal of blindness takes place in the brain rather than the eyes. the eyes are the mechanical part of vision but its the brain that processes everything. some people that don't have working eyes have the visual processing parts that work. these people will "see" things when they are high. however, other people will not because the parts of their brain that process visual stuff has not developed properly because they have been blind since they were very young or born blind.

something else that is interesting to think about, when some deaf people hallucinate "voices" they will see disembodied hands doing sign language rather than hearing a voice. this is a similar sort of situation where the person has been deaf for a very long time, maybe since birth.
