Transportation Information (self.Blind)

I was wondering what is a good mode of transportation to use. I have heard Uber and Lyft are good but I never have used it.

Uber and Lyft are good, are required to allow service dogs. Most drivers will help you get in if you need it. The apps are pretty accessible too. If you live in a big city, the bus system is an option, and if you have a MetroAccesss service specifically for the disabled look into that too

I’ve had bad luck with Uber regarding my dog. Are they better now? How do you differentiate your ride from all the other cars in a public place considering there’s no livery on the vehicle to set it apart?

A lot of smaller towns, if you prefer to live in those, have something called para transit, if that’s what you were referring to. However, these are notoriously slow, and some of the drivers are, ironically, ill-equipped to deal with people with disabilities. I for one like to live in the bigger cities, so that I can be more independent, and so that I wouldn’t have to rely on it. However, it’s not for everyone, which is why am throwing that option out there.

True. Yes, I didn’t know the name of it lol. And I know for example the service in my city only accepts the lowest of low functioning and has to be pre scheduled

And the other reason I’m throwing out smaller cities is because a lot of the major cities are really expensive to live in. But if you are willing to pay that financial cost, I would definitely go for them. I live near Washington DC, in a Virginia suburb, and I love it. However, because it’s expensive, I’m planning on moving soon.

Absolutely, a lot of major cities have sky high living expenses.

Sadly I live in a small town, I'm trying to figure transportation out so I can get stuff done for college.

Is this college near where you live? If not, maybe consider living near campus so that you can walk to it?
