Looking to interview someone who has worked at or been a member of Spain's ONCE organization. (self.Blind)
submitted by aaronespinozaca
I heard it has a lot of money to spend on blind people because they get a lot of there funding from the lottery. It is the best blind organization on Earth.

"it is the best blind organization on Earth"

Please explain this. Just because they have a lot of money doesn't mean that the money is used well.

Spain's unemployment for blind people is very low from what I read. But still your right I don't know the ins and outs of the organization and I was just assuming.

I should point out that even if you did interview someone who worked for the organization, they may not have a good idea of how much money comes in or how it is spent. I've been at my organization for 10 years and have only a very vague idea the flow of money. I would suspect the most knowledgeable people would be the accounting department or the CFO. Some organizations put out an annual report with money coming in and out, but that may not always be easily accessible.

Is your organization not a non profit or something?
Also I find their system in Spain very interesting and just wanted to know more.

That question is a bit complicated for my organization. When my organization first started in 1918, it was actually a charity.

About 4 years ago, they started the process of splitting the organization into different sections. The part of the organization that was doing rehabilitation was integrated into the health care system. The advocacy, employment skills and other charitable stuff is still with the charity side.

Then you should be able to find the charity's side of the organization tax return or unless your organization is the exception.

I believe they are public. Here are the ones for CNIB.

I have no idea how the health care part financing works.
