Hey everyone. Sighted spouse here, and I'm in marketing for a tech company (easy explanation: we provide software for building apps, but we also build apps for companies). And as a lot of you probably know, tomorrow (Thursday, May 16) is Global Accessibility Awareness Day. I have a platform and a voice, and I'm not afraid to use it to talk about one of my favorite subjects. ;-)
At any rate, I know what kinds of accessible tech my husband uses. I know how tech impacts his life on a day to day basis. I know what he wishes were better. But he's just one person. So would any of you be willing to lend your perspectives/thoughts on accessible tech? Specifically:
* The tech that's helped to make your life easier/better
* Some of your favorite apps--in other words, the ones that get accessibility right
* What are some things that companies do that make things less accessible? (I know that not labeling menu items is an obvious answer, for example, but quite frankly, I want quotes from actual people who use the technology because my experience is purely anecdotal, if that makes any sense.)
* What would you love to see happen in the world of tech regarding accessibility?
* Are you willing to let me use your post/quote you on my company's blog?
TIA!
