Just Received another be my eyes call! :) (self.Blind)

Hi all, I'm sighted and just wanted to take a second to talk about how much I absolutely LOVE receiving calls from the Be My Eyes app. Tonight I got to speak to a very nice fellow for awhile and help him figure out what to eat for dinner.
I know I personally get extremely anxious about asking for help and just figured if there was anyone out there with vision impairment who has questioned whether or not they should use this app, *please* do! I can't explain to you the absolute joy I get from getting to help someone, even if it's just in a very small way, and I just wanted to impress that. This app is seriously my favorite thing on my phone, it's such a cool piece of human connection and it's really nice to be able to have a positive interaction with a stranger and know that we both made each other's day a little better.
Also, to the guy I spoke to tonight, I hope you enjoyed your soup! (And I also hope that cereal turns up somewhere for a midnight snack!)

I don’t use the app, I don’t have a reason to but I’m glad you enjoy helping as much as you do.

Thank you so much for your service to the blind and your attitude. Although I don't use BeMyEyes personally, I do think it's a great app. I've just not had occasion to use it yet. I have used BSpecular, TapTapSee, Microsoft Ai and Invision Ai and find them useful apps. Again ... thank you so much for your attitude towards serving others.

I actually chatted with the guy whose call I picked up last night about all the awesome interactions he’s had with the app. It honestly is just such a joyful experience being able to have an instant human connection with someone like that. He told me he was surprised that he actually had an elderly woman pick up his last call (she was over 80!) and they spoke for nearly two hours and that it was one of the neatest things that had recently happened to him. Just cool all around. I told him it must stink that they had such a great connection and here I was to tell him he was all out of cereal! He got a kick out of that. Haha

I’m a volunteer and I feel the same way. I love it. It helps someone out and makes me feel good for helping someone. I always rush to answer a BeMyEyes call, no matter what I’m doing. I even feel disappointed if I miss a call or someone answers before me.
I have a partially-sighted family member, and even though I’ve encouraged him to use the app, he does not. But this is my way of paying it back/forward. I feel reassured to know that some volunteer out there could be helping him live his life, so I am very happy to do the same for others.

They’re rare for me too! I think in the last year I’ve only had maybe a total of 4 calls... but I love knowing there’s so many volunteers that when there is a call, there’s basically instantly a volunteer for the person who needs it. I race to open up the app when I see one of those push notifications! Hahah

I love using Be My Eyes for myriad tasks or questions that I may have. The volunteers there are really great.

I also have this app. I've helped onemperson read a receipt. The other needed to know the return address of some mail. I love it when folks call. But I've had it for many months and only received the two calls. There are like a million volunteers but 100k users of the app. So the calls certainly get spread out!

It’s up to over 2 million volunteers now! So it’s more of a 20:1 ratio, which makes sense as to why the calls are so rare for us! The guy I spoke to last night talked about how he’s been using the app for a long time and had gotten to speak to, “some of the nicest people from all over the place,” doing it and that someone always picks up right away. So cool.
