I have been accepted to UNR for this Fall. Please share any experiences or wisdom you have about life in Reno and or UNR.

Congrats! I have only been to UNR for summer research visits, but Reno was cooler (not temperature) than I expected and the campus is really nice! The area seems to have good food, a decent arts and music scene, and some interesting shops, as long as you stay around campus. What kinds of interests do you have outside of school? Just be prepared for dry heat.

I'm a musician, so knowing there's a solid scene is exciting! I also hike, tandem bike, and play beep baseball. I've lived in the beautiful state of Alaska for 15 years now and am ready for a bit more sun to be honest. I am prepared to buy a small keg of sunscreen, as I am also a ginger.
