Im not sure if this is the right sub but im trying to find a community of people who wear eyepatches not in the pirate costume accessory way but in an every day wear sort of way,(self.Blind)

I am trying to make a jewellery product for sighted or visually impared people and feel like I have gone as far as is practical with my own personal testing.

Allot of people who get health problems associated with light wear wraparound blacked out shades, regular sunglasses, or, if they can get their hands on it, specialized light filtered glasses that block certain wavelengths that they are particularly sensitive to.
I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, I think it's kinda cool, but I don't know what kind of market you'll have.

I was more thinking of people who are altogether missing an eye/have no vision or people who just want to wear a stylish see through eye patch and have it be wearable for more than five seconds. Im not trying to make a medical device(although specialized lenses *could* be integrated into the design)

Most people who are partially/fully blind in one eye don’t bother with eye patches. The brain does a pretty good job blocking out that shit. I think you are looking for more of a niche/fetish community.

Maybe fetish is the wrong word(...or maybe it is who am i to judge) the idea i was going for was more luxury/fashion.

I temporarily used a plastic eye patch like attachment with my glasses. One of my eyes was super light-sensitive for a while. It helped to focus easier.

tbh I would probably wear it if it's non-irritating. Because of how my vision loss happened, sometimes not closing my eye causes it to hurt more, despite that I have very, very limitted vision in it.
My issue is that my skin breaks out in a raised, painful rash from just about anything. Plastic, leather and microfiber all make my skin welt up when I wore a blindfold for training purposes, so that's fun.

I use a couple different designs of eyepatches. My favourite is a leather one that I applied a thin foam layer to the inside of, it keeps the moisture down and reduces my irritation. I get it from the craft aisle, and it's inexpensive, so no harm in trying.

Thats the idea, non irritating, i have a couple of prototypes made of welded stainless steel wire( jewellery grade micro welding) that are ergonomically designed to hug the orbit structures. I just used stainless because its cheap and easy to weld but there is nothing to stop me from making a design out of implant grade titianium or gold or whatever. I mean my initial target market was like ... sighted festival goers and the like because they are easily made see through and look cool but i figured some people splurge for custom silver finger splints so why not at least offer high quality eyepatch alternatives to people who wear them every day. I dunno, im looking for random information similar to stuff like if you know where you get blisters on your foot put some tape on that spot before you get any irritation and you wont get them as easily type of stuff. Or whats annoying about an eyepatch. What makes a good one or a shitty one, how do they break? Etc
