JAWS and Streaming Music Question (self.Blind)
submitted by TheBlindBookLover
Hi everyone. I am using JAWS 2019 on Windows 10 while trying to stream Spotify using Google Chrome. Is there a way to have the music and JAWS work on two different volumes? I would like to play music in the background while doing homework. The volume of JAWS seems to decrease whenever I play music. I want to have the music volume lower than volume of JAWS. Thank you to anyone who responds.

Instead of just using the Spotify web player in Chrome, download the actual spotify app, from their website. Don't get it from the windows store as that may cause accessibility issues. The spotify app has its own volume control which is independent of the rest of your system, you can adjust it by pressing CTRL+Down to decrease or CTRL+Up to increase it.

The other thing you can do is use the audio ducking feature of JAWS, which works like the audio ducking feature on iPhone or Android so it'll lower the volume of all other sounds while JAWS speaks. To toggle it on and off I think the keystroke was JAWS+Space, then D. You can also adjust this in the settings center.

You can also use the Windows volume mixer to lower the Google Chrome volume. It allows you to set the relative volume for every application on your system.
