Accessible civilization/nation building games? (self.Blind)
submitted by Fournote
Basically what the title says. I'm wondering if there are any text or audio based games where you can do things like build nations, engage in diplomacy, go to war, that kind of thing, preferably with multiplayer.

Hmm, closes thing that comes to mind is an audiogame in that style... but for the life of me I can't remember the name of it...

Castaways, maybe? I played it 8-ish years ago and think I found it kind of boring once I figured out how to use the job system to basically get all the resources I needed. It was a cool concept, but not a lot of replay value.

Castaways is a good guess, but no... It had a multiplayer mode.

I remember the units: pawns to harvest stone and wood, soldiers, archers, dragons...

I just can't... for the life of me... remember the bloody name of the thing.

The idea was you built up your infra, like farms, blacksmiths, sawmills, and so on, and that gave you different resources out of the processed wood and stone, which were limited, and different types of units you could build, mostly for combat.

SoundRTS, maybe. I honestly found that game very unintuitive, and gave up on it.

soundRTS was it! I really enjoyed that, but haven't played it in quite a while now.

There is a text-based game called $1 in that style. I love it, but it's not multiplayer.

Maybe Ogame? It's a browser game, so it should be accessible (if developers didn't screw up).

Check out Lords and knights, for ios

Knight Commander for iOS is a fun time-waster. Has tasks that take real time to complete, but nothing more than five minutes. Fully accessible with VoiceOver. There’s no multiplayer and it may get boring after doing all you’re able to do, though. I really enjoy it.

Lords and knights, civclicker, 1000AD

You may have slightly better luck asking on $1

But in general I think $1 Warsim King of dragon pass/six ages: ride like the wind, and $1 are probably your best bets, especially that first one as it relies mainly on decision making.

I'm sure others can be found that would fit your criteria, I just don't know of them.

I wish we had something more in depth as well.

There is King of Dragon Pass on iOS, but it is very much its own thing, and not multiplayer.

I'm also very much interested in this kine of thing, and will keep you updated if I have any success. I am working on a project which will probably be very interesting but it's a ways off yet.
