I'm looking for a monocular or similar device that has a relatively short minimum focal distance, decent magnification, a bright image, and a reasonable field of view. Brightness is key, due to contrast issues and colorblindness in low light.
I play a lot of boardgames and seeing what's going on on the other side of the table is difficult. I'm generally always guessing based on vague shapes and colors. This frequently puts me at a disadvantage.
A lot of sites that sell low vision aids annoyingly don't list focal distances for their monoculars and the ones that get good reviews on Amazon (where this info is listed) are typically being reviewed by sighted people using them in other contexts.
I just want to be able to see what's going on 1.5-4ft away.
Can anyone recommend something that won't break the bank (<$150)?

I've heard good things about the $1. Close focus distance of 10 inches and only $14.

Ah, for $14 that's worth a shot, even if it ends up being a backup/spare. Thanks. :)

Hello!
Maxiaids has lots of monoculars. When I just wrnt to the page, the near/“extra close” view monoculars began on page 3, I do believe. Their description tells the size, focus, etc.

Oh, thanks! I looked at their site, but didn't see focal distances on a lot of them - I guess I didn't dig deep enough.
