App for the blind needs your help (self.Blind)
submitted by TactileImages
Here at $1 we are creating an unique universal app for VIPs that will help (better) understand by yourself an tactile image printed on swell paper. No need for another assistant present to explain the images, all you will need is a smartphone.

We are now developing the hand recognition part and training the AI needs feeding tens of thousands of different pictures of various hands. Could you please help popularize this $1?

Share it on social media, send personal messages to friends asking for help. We are sqeduled to release the alpha before Christmas. Register for early testing $1

How do we make this thread more visible?

Thank you, too. Maybe an admin can make this sticky or find other way to push it in the community

It's only iOS users at the moment?

Take pictures of your hand with any camera and send them to developer@teistudios.ro if you do not have a iOS device

That's a really interesting idea
Can I confirm that it currently requires vision to send the photos through the app?
TactileImages [OP] 2 points 3y ago
Yes, it needs vision to do it through the app, but you can always take pictures with phone camera and send them to developer@teistudios.ro
Our volunteers will set the markers.

...What? Come again???

If I understand it will identify what you're exactly touching when touching images

We have hundreds of images in our library that will have professional descriptions. This week we are creating geography and anatomy (central nervous system) lessons. After release you will be able to print the images by yourself or order them online.

With special paper..which would defeat the whole purpose in day to day usage, especially when out and about.
icanhazvideo 1 points 3y ago
from what I understood, the special paper will be used later on, when the app is ready. Swell paper is usually used in teaching blind children tactile images.
The pictures they are asking now are only in digital format.
CloudsOfMagellan 1 points 3y ago
If they are just asking for normal pictures then it will work with normal paper
icanhazvideo 2 points 3y ago
normal pictures are used in the process of training the Artificial Intelligence behind the app to recognize hands, to recognize where is the hand and where is it situated. This way the app will know what the blind person in exploring. So the app will read us aloud the explanations of that area.

Do you use images printed on swell paper?
If so, this app will see your hand position on the drawing and will explain aloud the specific are you are touching. Just like someone would explain it to you. Just that it cones from your smartphone that sees your hand through the video camera. We want to teach it to recognize hands. And for that we need 100k pictures of hands. Reddit community might be the solution.
Would you help this project?
