Hi r/Blind, we want to improve technology support and repair for everyone! Tell us your horror stories! (self.Blind)
submitted by aelchim
We are a small team working on an exploratory project and need your help. We are looking to make the following experiences better for everyone and would love feedback from the r/Blind community!

1. When you need in-home repairs (e.g. refrigerator) what could repair technicians do to make the visit go smoother?
2. When you need tech-support (e.g. setup/troubleshoot devices) how can the technician best assist you?
3. Examples of good and bad experiences, give us your worst ;)

Thank you!

The only time I have tech support issues is usually on the larger scale of an app or product not being accessible in the first place. The best example of this right now for me is Curiosity Stream. I got in touch with them to let them know that little things in their app, like all video player controls and show lists, didn't work with Voiceover. They told me to restart my phone and make sure I had the latest iOS. Most technicians are pretty friendly and willing to help. This was just a special case and it seems like the app creators are determined not to get any blind customers any time soon.

Thanks for the feedback! We definitely want to make all our services easy to use for the blind! Quick question, have you heard of Be My Eyes and have you used it or know anyone who has?

I don't use Be My Eyes but a friend of mine loves them. :)
