My left eye (self.Blind)
submitted by csmith2011gamer
I wanted to tell my story about something that happened to me in 2013 and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. It was January 2013 and I was sick for at least 2 weeks which is kind of odd because I hardly ever get sick. So one day a tiny black dot appeared in my left eye and I thought nothing of it until it got huge and so I went to the eye doctor who said it needed to be an Emergency Room trip. Turned out my retina was swollen and I was diagnosed with cat scratch disease. My vision in my left eye returned but its very poor and I couldn't really rely on it if I had to. I have static in that eye (best way i can describe it) even though i was told it would eventually go away but hasn't even after almost 7 years. My right eye is good but wasn't my primary one before this happened. Lot of floaters. I realize there's people who have it worse and I fear one day I'm not going to be able to see at all.

Hugs. My first symptom was a black dot in one eye. But different cause (Myopic Degen), and mine’s degenerative so it has gotten worse over time.

I understand the fear of going blind, and it’s definitely one I’ve come to face. It was especially hard for me, cuz I was an artist - so my vision was an extra part of my identity.

But, I got new coping skills. Guitar, baking, stuff like that. My life is very rich and making peace with the loss is a huge part of that. It takes time, but I believe in you.

Make some new less-visual outlets, and travel anywhere you really want to see. Make sure you have good friends :) and you’ll be okay.

Hi. I had cat scratch disease years ago which I got after being bitten by a cat while working at a cat shelter. I had a lump surgically removed from my neck but I had no idea that vision could be affected. I’m very lucky I didn’t lose any of my light perception

I wish I could turn back time. It could have been prevented. Stupid me

I think I've read that cat scratch disease can be an infectious cause of uveitis
