Any favourite sites for EBooks? (self.Blind)
submitted by RJHand
Normally I'd just get audiobooks from IBooks, but since I'm in college and need to write papers on books (unfortunately lol) you can't really take quotes from audiobooks. I know you can get EBooks on IBooks as well, but I've always found the formatting with voiceover a little weird. Any other good places to find books in like word or rtf or something?

You can it just takes extra listening. Bookshare is good and always go for kindle books too.

You can't necessarily quote punctuation correctly with audio books.

Let your instructors know you may not be able to get exact pages when quoting books. And Bookshare is free for students. I’ve got all my grad school texts that way.

Do the bookshare books show the page numbers? Also do we have to do anything like prove blindness?

Not usually with page numbers but maybe I’ve got a setting disabled in Voice Dream. Yeah you have to have proof of blindness to register with Bookshare. You can get one from your eye doctor; it’s usually just a signed letter saying you’re legally blind and why.

Oh, I've got one that explains my condition so I should be good.

Most scanned books show the page number. Some publisher-supplied books do, but sometimes they're off by a little or not included, even if there are references to page numbers in the text.
