DBT Therapy Group help (self.Blind)
submitted by razzretina
Edit: I solved half the problem by remembering that Robobraille exists and converted the image PDF handouts into a DOC file. Just have to figure out how to do the weekly diary card now.

So I'm in a DBT group right now and basically everything is done through handouts and in print. It's starting to get to me. You'd think that a therapy used with veterans, many of which are blinded in combat, would be more accessible but so far it's not. I can't find anything useful on google myself. Do any of you have experience doing DBT and what did you do for things like the diary cards and getting access to all those nice strategies that are hinted at but only described in handouts?

Do you have anything that can read off the handouts or the prints? Or do they have them in a digital form they can provide you a copy with?

I forgot that Robobraille exists! I was able to convert the image PDF into a text DOC. It looked like that was able to get most of the text; as long as there aren't any tables in the handouts, I should be good there, ha ha.

Another option, depending on the number of pages, is to get a copy and have someone type them up.

The digital form was an image pdf file, alas. I’ve asked for the handouts but haven’t been given them so far and we’re two weeks in.
