Have you ever tried to paint a white ceiling with white paint? (self.Blind)
submitted by wishiwasmegmccaffrey
I’m currently doing a makeover on my room and had to repaint the ceiling (it has not been repainted since 2007).
I can tell you: it’s really hard when you almost can’t see!

I couldn’t see where I had painted or not, which led to me either missing a spot or painting twice on the same spot. To solve this problem, I touched the ceiling with my fingertips to feel if I had painted on a certain spot or not. This led to me having white paint all over my fingers.
I guess I painted on the lamp as well!

Luckily, my dad came and checked the ceiling once in a while!

If you are blind/visually impaired and want to repaint your house: please contact a painting service because doing it yourself is not a good idea!

Edit: Today, I painted the light purple walls in my room in a slightly lighter pink. That was so much easier than painting the ceiling! This time, I could see the paint, but my dad still had to do some touch-ups on the spots I’d missed!

Tbh, it's tricky enough when you can see what you're doing.

Dulux has a ceiling paint that goes on slightly pink but dries white.

Haha I would find it hard enough to do and I have normal vision! White on white is not easy. Actually I would just pay someone else to do it. DIY is too much effort.

Hated painting before my vision loss. Still hate it...lol.

I would probably not even attempt that. There's a lot I do that people say I shouldn't, but there are some inherent limitations that come along with blindness. While you're physically capable of painting, you have to question if it really is going to look OK or not.
