Library researcher studying effectiveness of Overdrive and Libby apps for blind and visually impaired users (self.Blind)
submitted by library_researcher
Hey everyone,

I am a grad student in a library science program at Kent State researching the effectiveness of Overdrive and Libby for blind and visually impaired users. I am a freelance audio describer, so this is an issue that is near and dear to my heart. I was wondering if you could comment on how well the Overdrive or Libby apps and websites work for you and if there are any glaring obstacles that make using them difficult or inconvenient. For example, although I'm not visually impaired, I like using Kindle text to speech, but I wish it had more options regarding customization. If everything works great for you, can you explain what you like and how long it took for you to get used to the design?

This study design is for an assignment and will not be publicly published. Your responses will be used to guide the design of the planned interview questions and as justification for the need for this kind of study. If you'd rather communicate via DM, please feel free to contact me that way! This study is not connected to *The Guardian* journalist's piece, although it's weird that we are both posting on the same day!

Happy Black Friday, and thank you so much in advance for your guidance!
