What do I do with my cane when sitting down in a chair,? (self.Blind)

Dude - no offense - but you've asked a *lot* of questions on basic cane use over the past few days. Do you not have an O&M instructor to teach you how to use your cane? If not, you need to find one! Talk to your school, or your region's vocational rehab or office for the blind.

In the mean time, read this article: $1

Could you stop trolling this sub? Honestly, it's getting ridiculous. You ask basically the same question in phrased differently until it just becomes inane. Talk to an O&M instructor, that's what they're there for. That, and use some common sense.

If it doesn't fold you can hold it vertically between your knees.

i usually instruct my O&M students to fold the cane and place it under their seat or in another memorable spot. If you have a long cane that does not fold, my advice is to place it in a spot where other people are least likely to trip on it. If you’re at a table it may be best to place it across your feet in front of your chair, but this strategy could be troublesome, for example, on a plane. Also, be mindful that a cane is touching the ground all day so avoid placing it on surfaces on which you wouldn’t want to put the bottom of your shoes. Unfortunately, there is no one good answer but hopefully this information is helpful.

I tend to either keep my folded up under my chair or I keep it straight and tuck the bottom behind my ankle and rest the top by my shoulder. For my non folding canes I keep them in corners or under tables.

You can fold it and keep it with you or lean it against a chair or table.
