Looking for a Square Screen Magnifier with Arm (self.Blind)
submitted by ABlindManPlays
Hello all!

I am looking for a magnifier for my PC screen. I'm an active gamer, but I've been having problems reading quest text and the like. I have a small hand magnifier, but it's really not getting the job done.

I'm looking for something around the size and shape of a tablet, with a mounting arm where I can attach it to my desk and adjust it as needed. Problem is, I can't read a lot of the details on Amazon on size, etc. My last order ended up being next to useless, so I'm hoping the blind Reddit community can help me. Any suggestions?

Have you tried using screen magnification software? If you're on Windows, just hit Win+Plus to zoom in and Win+Minus to zoom out ("Win" is the windows key, usually located between ctrl and alt).

I suspect that may not work well for games though. For this case, maybe try lowering the resolution they run at (either in the game settings, or you might have to lower the resolution of your whole display in the Display Settings).

Use software magnification. On windows, you can just press Control and the plus button at the same time. On Mac go to universal access, click the display tab, and activate the zoom feature. On website you can also col down control and turn the mousewheel to make things bigger if you're using Chrome. If you can't read the text on normal website, you may also want to consider learning to use a screen reader.

For something that size, it wouldn't be glass/plastic, it would need to be digital. But most wouldn't have a mounting arm attachment, you'd have to jury-rig something.

Humanware produces one that is 8 inches across. Not sure if that is suitable.
