Help with the steam client and steam games (self.Blind)
submitted by mamiice97
Hello everyone,
I just got a steam account and also bought the mortal combat 11 + injustice 2 legendary edition bundle. I am totally blind since birth and would like to get into video gaming. I know mk is accessible, but is injustice 2? And do you have any other games you could recommend? I heard that street fighter, forza motor sport 7 and killer instinct is accessible. Any other ideas?

And then I also have a few questions about the steam client. It works fine for me so far, but the window that pops up when I want to install games is not accessible at all. At least NVDA reads the window when I use OCR, but that doesn't really help me because i can't interact with the recognized text. I know it used to be accessible. Is there a solution on how i can install games without sighted help? I started the installation by just pressing tap and enter randomly, but I also want to install the games on an external hard drive, but as long as the window is not accessible, I can't do that. Also google says I can move the game afterwards by going into the steam settings, but there seems to be no way of doing this with JAWS or NVDA. I hope someone has any ideas on games or on how i can install and move them independently. Have a great day.

I'm a visually inspired gamer, still have quite a lot of vision left.

I find overwatch pretty good for contrast. Bright colours work better for me personally.

Planet coaster and planet zoo allow you to scale the UI.

Sometimes I put games into their unintended resolution as it scales it to be bigger.

Sorry I couldn't answer more of your questions.

Hope this helped.

To change the install location you need to go to settings then, halfway down on the left hand side is `Downloads`. In that tab, the very top button is `Steam Library Folders`. That brings up a pop-up, at the very bottom left of that popup is a button to add a library folder which then brings up a folder selection menu.

Once the library is added, during the install of a game, the very first step gives you the option to choose this, it's the bottom button in the popup, which you can then use to choose the library.

I'm not familiar with accessibility technology and exactly how that works so I'm sorry if this isn't much use to you. If you do have any specific questions about a screen or step feel free to pm me or make a post for the wonderful people over at r/DescriptionPlease
