Has anyone else had to deal with the center for the visually impaired’s transition program recently (self.Blind)
submitted by ashleyd99
I’m wondering if it was just my branch in Florida or what but I had to cut myself off from the program because they stoped actually teaching and just kept begging me to come back so they’d get paid more

If you have no idea what I’m talking about in the US in Florida at least there’s a program underneath the Center for the Visually Impaired called the Transitions program
This program six years ago when I got in to it was about teaching blind or VI teenager how to live on there own like with managing money and cooking there own food and everything
About a year ago though my brach started focusing more on getting people to go rather that teach life skills they even told me they were payed by the students so they did more fun stuff so more students would keep coming back
After I graduated the program I came back as a volunteer and they started bugging me about rejoining as a student so I finally had to cub my ties with the program that once taught me so much it was very sad
