Audio Rush (iOS) - Arcade Game with the Special Care of Accessibility (self.Blind)
submitted by smi9t
Hi, I am a 1st year student of Informatics and I've learnt the basics of the iOS development in my free time.

My goal was to offer the best experience to the blind and visually impaired users I can. Enjoyability by the sighted players was also a thing. Here is how I've done: $1 (link to the Apple App Store)

The game doesn't include any in-app purchases neither advertisements. The goal is to avoid the moving obstacles by moving finger left and right and to get the highest score, of course. Players are able to compete with others thanks to the Apple Game Center integration.

Could you please give me some feedback if you wouldn't mind? I would really appreciate hearing your opinion.

\[the following video shows the gameplay, the starting score is 30 and the ending one is 60\]

Make this post on applevis.com, they can help, it’s a sight for blind IOS users.

Audiogames.net would also be a good place too.

It sounds like a great option. Thanks!

After the next update I will give both of them a try.

It's a good first effort but it seems extremely clunky. For one thing, when you hit continue through the information pages, you sort of have to do this backward jig to see the next paragraph or section. It would be nice if you jumped to the top of the page automatically, and could just continue flicking right. That would make things more streamlined.

Secondly, the actual gameplay. I'm afraid I just die too quickly to figure out what is right and wrong. Then, when I do die, the gameover screen doesn't jump you out of direct touch mode, so you have to hope you can manage to hit the window, or turn voiceover off and on again to get it out of that mode.

Here's what I would suggest. When you hit play, it should load and then say tap to start. Tapping would then put you in direct touch mode, and you're all good to play. Otherwise, you have to do it anyway, and you might miss out on that first second or two. Then, after a game ends, jump focus to the top of the game over screen so that you don't end up stuck in direct touch mode.

Thank you very much for your opinion! This is the fantastic feedback I was hoping for.

There is now 1.5 second delay until the game starts. But your idea is going to solve it much more effectively. I am definitely going to implement it the way you're suggesting. Thank you!
