LPT: Independent projector and laptop display while presenting (self.Blind)
submitted by lhamil64
Recently at work I have been hosting more meetings, and one of the things I've always found annoying about presenting from my laptop is that I can't see the projector, so I end up just mirroring my display so I can see it on my laptop. The downside to this is that everything is mirrored (notifications, notes I'm taking, etc).

The simple thing I realized is that I can just use Windows magnifier in docked mode with the displays extended. The docked magnifier can sit on the laptop display, and the secondary (projector) display is free to show whatever. Then to see it, just mouse over it and view through the docked magnifier. This also let's you have notes up on the laptop display next to the magnifier.

This may be something many people know about (probably even an intended use case of the docked mode) but figured I'd share, and maybe it will prompt others to share their tips for presenting.

Thanks for sharing! This is a great tip that I'm going to try out. I'm a business intelligence consultant and I have to do quite a few live demo's of the software we use and the dashboards we built. I'm now doing the demo in full screen magnified mode, which means that everybody in the room has to endure a zoomed in view. It can be useful to show them the finer details of something, but for some people it may also be quite annoying.

One thing that I also do while presenting is have my notes ready on my iPad in a very large font, and put that next to my laptop or in my hand while presenting.
