Help on research for accessibility services on tablets and smart TVs (self.Blind)
submitted by nuggekaiBeYummy
Hi r/Blind,

I’m doing a research project on what are some of the things that can be made better regarding accessibility services on tablets and smart TVs with respect to navigating the devices and choosing the different shows and apps. For those of you who use these services, what are some of your pain points? What would you like to see instead or have improved? Would you rather be able to navigate your TV/tablet using gestures instead of voice?
Thank you so much for your help. Any suggestions and/or comments will be greatly appreciated:)

Generally speaking, Apple has better accessibility services than Android products. Better integration and it seems to more consistent (Android has the fragmentation problem to deal with).

I've found that gestures seem to be easier for older people who are not as familiar with tech. They can do a gesture, listen to the response, and then continue. For using verbal commands, they can sometimes give a long rambling command the system doesn't understand.
