Started the beginning course through Hadley. OMG, it feels like another world has opened up for me. I feel a bit clumsy reading lines, but I’m really liking the idea of using it to read. Best solution for my eye fatigue as a large print user as well as audiobook and magnifier screen user. I honestly have no interest in looking at the page. It’s just nice to add a resource to my other toolkit! If anyone has any tips on hand techniques let me know!:or any other useful braille learning tips. 😃

When people first start, they often press too hard. That pushes the paper down and also is rough on your fingers. Going lighter helps.

Reading techniques: Once you get faster at reading you will learn to scan down to the next line with your left hand while your right reads the current line, it's the fastest way to read that I know, I was raised on Braille since like age six and am now age 28.
Interestingly I am thinking about going into a career in Braille transcription for the local school boards etc, and so I have to take a course in transcribing Unified English Braille.

I'm trying, on and off. It's hard as hell.

Read a little every day. Also label things around your home with braille so that you encounter braille incidentally.
