If you're a JAWS user that wants to try NVDA but finds the whole thing daunting, give this guide a read. (github.com)

Hey guys. 10+ year JAWS user attempting to learn NVDA.
How do I quickly jump focus to the top/bottom of a page? Control + home(7) and control + end(1) is how you do it with JAWS. It appears that NVDA uses the same keyboard combinations, but when I press them, visually I can see a screen context change, but my curser focus doesn’t budge.

I just opened the NVDA user guide and it is easy to understand while also being very descriptive. I feel like an idiot for not looking at it before. I have been using NVDA for 5-6 years now.

Yes they’ve done a fantastic job of it. The guide I linked to isn’t a replacement, it’s more of a quick start guide for jaws users wanting to get up and running and attempts to answer questions they may have.
Well worth checking out alongside the included user guide.

I've wanted to use either program but the learning curve is so steep for both that I've never been able to wrap my mind around it. Alas. At least there's Voiceover.

What do you use now? The JAWS Basic Training is quite good (and was updated very recently), and the NVDA equivalent has also received good reviews.

Right now I’ve just been using Voiceover on my phone. I’ll take a look at the NVDA guide when I get a chance! I was taking JAWS classes but it felt overwhelming right out of the gate.

JAWS is arguably the easier of the two to use, so if you have the money I encourage you to try learning to use it with the included JAWS Basic Training.

I've got a laptop with JAWS installed. I should really just get off my butt and use it, ha ha. Thanks for the advice!
