WordPress or something else? (self.Blind)
submitted by abgjpodcast
Hi guys,

I used to have a blog on WordPress.com but I wonder if it’s really that accessible on the Mac.

If anyone who actually uses WordPress on their Mac could help me understand how to use it or if there’s a client somewhere where I can navigate more accessibly through my website, I would really appreciate it.

However, if there’s something else that I could use besides word press. Like for example, another host for my site, it would be awesome to learn about them and where I can get them.

Thanks for everyone’s help and have a great rest of your Valentine’s Day.

Check out byword for posting. Available on Mac, iPad and iPhone. I use it on the iPad all the time as it has fantastic mark down support for formatting

Thanks, I will definitely try it out.

Hi man!

I can only tell from my personal experience and would suggest you to do it with wordpress. Wordpress offers so much to do for your Website. The bad part about wordpress is that depending on what you want to do it can get expensive or time consuming.

For myself (Im a Web Developer) I use the combination of Wordpress and Tons of Plugins from a Bundle. So its not expensive or time consuming (which is important for me) For example if I need to do a Booking Website (Hotel. Restaurant or something similar) I can always get my Website done with the Plugins available in the Package.

Because those Plugins are expensive I use a Bundle. ($1)

It litteraly has everything for every website. Starting from Themes to start building your site to Plugins to make your Wordpress site perfect.

Really easy to upload and install plugins and if you need Support you can always contact them!

Hi,

Thank you so much!

I really appreciate your help, I will definitely check those out. BTW, I am a woman. Don’t worry, it’s fine. I get the username suggests that I might be a man but nope!

You could use Marsedit for the Mac to write on your blog, or you could use Github Pages, which uses Jekyll, but only do this if you are technically inclined, or if you have time to learn a few things: Markdown, Github, Git, and a text editor.

You can configure Wordpress to accept blog posts by email, if you find the interface difficult.

I believe that only works for sites hosted on wordpress.com, not self-hosted ones. Correct me if I’m wrong.

you are. It works fine on self-hosted installs.

Cool! I didn’t know you could do that but thanks for the info.

For blogging on Wp download Mars Edit. It's well worth the price -- about $30 I believe. So much easier to use. Great interface.

Awesome! It really sounds like the great tool to use but sadly, I am a full-time student so I really can’t afford to buy that. Thanks for the help anyway.

Any time. It's well worth the investment if you plan on blogging regularly. Hopefully you're able to find something soon.

All right, thanks a lot.
If I ever do get the money to buy it, I will definitely do it because the price speaks for it self.
