Dinner in the Dark in Detroit, MI, USA in March (self.Blind)
submitted by JynxBJJ
Is anyone else attending the Leaderdog fundraiser in March?

I can’t wait to be in a room of blindfolded sighted people trying to eat. One of them is my sweet husband, but I found out that they don’t have the blind/vi people wear blindfolds, since we already can’t see what we eat. Lol

My husband asked me what the worst part of eating as a blind person is, and I said “imagine you have a small slightly squishy piece of food in on your plate, and there’s really no way to know if it’s a cherry tomato or a grape...”

Also, mold...I dint eat bread...

I've gotten sick from mouldy bread. I have since developed a smell for it.

Yeah I trust my sniffer on these things.

For me, the hardest \[art is maintaining some sort of dignity while I eat. Two years ago, I went to a restaurant with my family and got a nice salad. I spent most of the evening chasing food around my plate and launching croutons into god knows where. This year, I got fish and chips, but they were all piled together and I had a 'fun' round of fish or chip roulette.

I am also with you on the bread part. I order new bread every week and I have to specify that I need the freshest bread as I cannot tell when bread goes bad until too late.
