Mac OS X question (self.Blind)
submitted by thatguyyouknowtheone
Hello! Quick question: if you use Mac OS with voice over. What os are you running? What quirky issues do you have if any? My girlfriend is unable to use a mouse, so she relies on key commands and has had a lot of issues with Mac OS Catalina. We are thinking about back dating to an older os. Any input is appreciated!

sometimes my VoiceOver stalls on me, and usually how I fix it is I just wait a moment and turn it on again.

I'm on Catalina and besides a small problem with the Samantha voice I haven't noticed anything worse than in Mojave or any earlier version since at least Mavericks, (the first version of MacOS that I used with VoiceOver), however I only use my computer for coding, and don't use Braille.

What issues are you having?

By the way, this isn't published anywhere, but you can submit accessibility feedback to accessibility@apple.com, and they usually reply.

I'd suggest heading over to Www.applevis.com and asking this question. There are a ton of helpful people over there, and probably quite a few who will just bitch about apple, but a great resource anyway.

So, so, so many. Problems with Braille. Problems with quick nav. Problems with the quick nav toggle. The new catalyst apps are awful.

Someone needs to get fired over the fiasco that is Catalina

Personally I very rarely have issues and haven’t noticed much of a difference from Mojave to Catalina. But, I do use alex for my voice. The only bug that annoys me is sometimes voiceover will freeze and I have to restart it… Nine times out of 10 this happens while I’m using a Bluetooth headset so it may just be related to that though
