I am so sorry I am asking this but it's not actually my question (self.Blind)

Do you have preferences (as in relationships)?

Some people like to argue that race counts as a preference, which is what I started a discussion about on r/teenagers. Someone replied that for a relationship one needs both physical and emotional attraction. I'm so sorry if I sound ignorant/stupid/dumb, but how does physical attraction work in the blind community if at all?

It's not a dumb question, don't worry. Physical preferences aren't just limited to good looks.

I like people's personal scent, I like the feel of beards and silky hair, I like the way my partner feels so small in my arms, I sometimes like the pitch or timbre of a voice. All of these are physical characteristics that contribute to attraction.

I do have enough vision to know I like girls with crazy hair colours. It helps that they're easier to find, too.

how often have I wished I could turn my partner's volume up?
Finding eachother in a large crowd is a pain in the ass.

But yes, physical is soooo much more than visual and you've done a great job describing that.

We have a unique whistle that we echo back and forth. The only time it failed was when a stranger whistled back. We still have a good laugh about it.

Physical attraction for me isnts at all visual. Scent, touch, texture, and much more comes into play.

My husband has retinitis pigmentosa. He likes to say that his favorite kinds of women are **tactile** and/or **high contrast.**

I have a high sense of smell. For me I prefer to be around people I can take the scent of. It's rare, but sometimes I can't stand the smell of someone(not about bo). I'm not blind but my vision is not the best, at all. I will go blind temporarily because of my health on rare occasion. That's why when I go to places like a school I memorize the layout of the place, the hallways, where tables and desks are, etc. Hope this helps.

I don't know much I just know what I personally like.

Part of it comes from *cough research cough* into erotica nd pornography from things like /r/gonewildaudio

Part of it also would have come from bits and pieces of locker room gossip of my friends talking about and rating hot girls (come on you know all guys do that)

As to the question of race I would prefer my girlfriend the same race as myself just because that's one less potential communication problem, although I have a few friends of different races and I am sure I would change my mind depending on when the right woman came along.

TLDR: I "look for" hobbies and personality similarities first and great looks and that chemistry are a bonus.

Her sent, how her hands feel, her height, things like that. I always get annoyed when people say why do you care about physical attraction if you can't see anyways? Theres more than looks to the physical attractiveness of somebody I think

Physical is so much more than just visual. It's the feel the scent, the presence. Others have pretty much already given good examples.
