Braille printing advice (self.Blind)
submitted by number-1-loser
Hi everyone! So I’m looking to print a book in Braille and I’m having trouble finding a place that can do it. I’ve been researching and emailing but everyone either doesn’t have the equipment or is busy with other projects? Would any of you know a good place I can contact? If not that’s cool I just thought I’d ask.
(Psst! Hi mods! Please don’t take this down for personal advertising, I’m really just lost and looking for advice)

National Braille Press does that.

Thank you so much I’ll be sure to send them a message!

Are you a consumer or an author? If you're an author, payinq to have your book embossed isn't a realistic way of getting it to braille readers.

I’m the illustrator, my cousin is the author. And thanks for the insight. How do you recommend we get our book to Braille readers? (I’m a little new to all this so please bare with me)

Ask libraries for the blind to make it accessible and part of their collections. In the US, you should ask the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled, Learning Ally and Bookshare. In the UK, you should ask RNIB. In Canada, you should contact CELA. In Australia, you should contact Vision Australia. In New Zealand, you should contact the Blind Foundation.

This is a good company, but may be more advanced than you were looking for. They are based in Canada but I do believe they serve other countries as well.

North Eastern USA. Do you know of any companies in the area that may help?
