looking for some help (self.Blind)
submitted by WarriorPrincess31
Does anyone know of a place where I can maybe petition to have a tv show audio described?
I've been looking for Xena: Warrior princess in audio description for many many years now, but no matter how many audio described titles people keep adding, I can never find this one show. I've resigned myself to the knowledge that it'll probably never be added or made into audio description, but I was wondering if anyone knew of either someone who would be willing to watch this and audio describe it, or if anyone knew of a place where I could maybe petition to have it audio described or just anything?
Anyways, thanks for reading.

However, I think it's unlikely that this will get described. Streaming services don't really care about older shows, so they probably wouldn't pay to have it described when they could get something new described that more people would want to watch.

A couple of websites say that this show will be on NBC's new streaming service, Peacock. NBC/Universal is generally quite good with audio description, and the ACB will probably ensure that as much content as possible is described. As they say, hope for the best but expect the worst.

Hi, you could use Aira to have characters described or you could request descriptions of parts that may not be clear for you while you're listening.

I think this is a little unrealistic.
Every xena episode is about 45 minutes long, and there are 6 seasons.
Each season is about 20 episodes long.
Also, aira is very expensive, and I'm not spending money on it considering I have no use for it.

Hi, I agree that it'd be unrealistic to use Aira to watch entire epezodes. I use the free 5 minustes of every call to describe a character or a silent seen of my favorite show. Most of the time the acting is good enough that I don't need things described, so using the Aira service every once in a while is alright for me.

there are services that will do and audio description for you but most times they can be quite expensive, I with a quick google search found about 6 services that offer these services, my recommendation would be to call one of theses services and inquire as to what the cost would be as well as if the know where such media might already exist

Most quality description providers charge about $2500 per hour of video. They probably wouldn't want to do this anyway since you're just a consumer because it could cause some legal trouble.

I kinda figured that but there is always a chance that they might give a good idea as to if the media already exists

It would be nice but I doubt xena will be described.

You could try fan fiction or looking up episode scripts or descriptions online.
