We are researchers at Carnegie Mellon University conducting a research study to understand visually-impaired people’s experiences with online user-generated videos (e.g., videos posted on YouTube or Facebook). While TV and movies sometimes have professional audio descriptions, these descriptions rarely exist for online media. We’re interested in finding out more about what types of videos you currently watch online, and if or how you would like these videos to be made more accessible.
This study involves a 60-minute video interview. We will ask a few demographic and background questions, then ask you to recall a few examples of videos you've encountered in the past, and then ask you to review 3 videos and comment on the parts where you wish there was/wasn't more description.
You must be 18 or older and use a screen reader to participate. Participation in this study is voluntary. You will receive a $25 Amazon gift card or Paypal as compensation. If you’re interested in participating or would like to ask questions, please DM us at this account username (apuni). Thank you!
