I was wondering if some of you could share how long it took you to graduate college. I'm going to be done next year which will be my 5th because a few years I took 4 courses instead of 5 a semester.i found that taking the 4 courses made it a lot more easier.

I finished in 4 because I couldn't afford another year of college, but a few sighted friends took 5 years to graduate. It's quite normal in the US to spread out studies over 5 years and employers don't look down on it if you're worried.

That's great to hear. I thought the same thing companies just care if you have a degree rather than how long it took. During these times I don't mind so much either because the job market is not doing so well so taking the extra time may not be so bad.

What did you get your degree in if you don't mind me asking.

That's a great field to be in plenty of opportunity.

It’s taken me 6 years, spread out due to health issues. It’s not how quickly you reach the finish, it’s just about continuing to take steps to reach it!

Just for context, I’m in Australia so our semesters are different. Semester 1/Trimester 1 here starts in late February or sometimes March, while Semester 2 starts in late July.
February 2017 - July 2018: Started studying a Bachelor of Psychological Science, realised I didn’t want to go through the amount of work to be a psychologist July 2018 - July 2019: Didn’t like my uni anyway, so I switched uni and started studying a Bachelor of Social Work. Loved the coursework, but the fact I can’t drive filled me with anxiety at my job prospects. Realised I liked policy... July 2019: Switched to a Bachelor of Social Science, majoring in Public Policy. Now: I had eye surgery in November and didn’t feel confident going back to uni, nor did I feel mentally and physically ready because I can hardly see anything for now. I mean, I’ve been using a cane full time since 2018 but still. Didn’t realise everything would be made online, I’m still upset that I’ll be graduating in 2022 at 25.

I went through the same thing you did. I wanted to be a social worker as well but it was nearly impossible since the job requires a lot of travel throughout the day. My interest are in the field of social services but to be safe I'm in a business program which is unfortunate. I wish that services like uber and lyft were alot cheaper because so many more career options would open up for us. 25 is not bad either if you think about it 30 years of work puts you at 55 which is retirement age.

Yeah, I agree. I just hope working from home - at least partially - will be an option. Abd that's true! I'm pretty sure the retirement age in Aus is 65070. I'd still love to retire early hahaha
