Looking for a JAWS screen reader user to help us test our website (paid hourly) (self.Blind)
submitted by collatz_conjecture
Hi everyone,

I'm trying to find a JAWS screen reader user that would be interested in a paid consultancy gig to help get our company website to be fully readable using JAWS. We've put a lot of work in the last few months into the accessibility of our website but we want to test it specifically with the help of a JAWS user.

We are looking for someone that is:

* a regular JAWS user
* willing to work on a short-term hourly consultancy contract basis with us, for something like 10-20 hours.
* is able to work as an independent contractor (and invoice us as such), ideally in the USA.
* would be able to communicate either by phone, email or video conference with our development team to help test our website, detect any issues with JAWS in particular, communicate those issues to us and re-test them once we fix them.

Please DM me with contact details if so!

Or if anyone has any pointers of where else we should be looking that would be highly appreciated too, thanks!

I am very interested in helping. Have been using jaws for 17 years at this moment. And have been using NVDA, a free open-sourced screen reader for 9.

It's great that you're testing your website with screen reader users, but you shouldn't limit yourself to just ensuring that your website is usable with JAWS. There are many common browser/screen reader combinations (https://webaim.org/projects/screenreadersurvey8/), so testing with a larger number of accessibility tools would be much better.

There’s an organization that does exactly what ur looking for. It’s called world institute on disability. I am a tester for them, and they test ur website or whatever u want tested on whichever accessible software

Oh? Can i work for them?

I’m in the uk and have used nvda for about 5 years and jaws for most of my life.

They only do testing every few months, and it’s only about a 90 minute session. I live in the Bay Area in California, and I’m not sure if they have a location near u, but I’m sure they have info on their website

I emailed them. Perhaps they won't have a place for me but at least I tried :)
